SOUTHERN LEYTE STATE U SUPPORTS CAMPAIGN VS VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
THE SOUTHERN Leyte State University in Sogod town, Leyte is conducting a series of activi-ties that promote awareness on violence against women.
SLSU’s Gender and Development office, headed by Omar Alo, said that the activities were held based on Philippine Commission on Women’s Memorandum Circular No. 2020-07 which aims to promote awareness and provide information on laws protecting women and girls from any forms of violence.
The series of activities include the distribution of information education and communication ma-terials and a three-day simultaneous reading of prayers for victim-survivors of violence.
There will also be a webinar on “Protecting SLSU Kids and Students from Online Sexual Abuse” and a gender forum titled “Gender in the Time of Covid19.”
SLSU President Prose Ivy Yepes said during the online launch of the campaign that no one de-serves to be a victim of any form of violence.
Vice President for Executive Operations and External Affairs Juanita M. Costillas said that the campaign will help inform the SLSU community the importance of ending violence against women.
The 18-day campaign runs from November 25 to December 12.
