DR. GREGORIO Gamboa Jr. was named as the first president of the Surigao del Norte State University on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

The university picked its first president after it was granted a university status by the Commission on Higher Education in June. It was previously named Surigao State College of Technology.

Gamboa secured a 6-1 vote from the Board of Trustees.

He took his oath as SNSU president also on Tuesday.

Gamboa is not new to the post as he also served as the SSCT’s 6th president in 2016 and served a second term in 2020.

His appointment was backed by different college stakeholders, including the Commission on Higher Education Caraga and the Philippines Association of State Universities, among others.
