SLSU PRESENTS 2 CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENCY
THE SOUTHERN Leyte State University has presented two individuals who are vying for president of the institution — Dr. Juanita M. Costillas and Dr. Jude A. Duarte.
One of them will succeed Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes.
The two candidates were asked to present their respective visions for the university.
Duarte, who also served as president of Leyte Normal University, said that he wants SLSU to be competitive and relevant through global recognition.
If he gets the post, he plans to implement a metaverse type education and adopt a people-centered management and green technology.
“You need a visionary leader who can easily change gears when confronted with challenges caused by uncertainty of times. After serving LNU, my desire is to extend my service to Southern Leyte State University.” Duarte said as posted on SLSU’s website.
Costillas, the vice president for Students and Services of SLSU, aims to promote socio-economic and environmental development.
She also plans to enhance the internationalization and globalization of the university in her eight-year roadmap from 2023 to 2030.
“[Being a president is] a call of a greater service and impact to our students, the community, and the country. Hence, I envisioned Southern Leyte State University to be a leading higher education institution that nurtures knowledge advancement, community service, and human resource development for an inclusive society that is geared to serve, to lead and to build,” Costillas also said.
