SLSU INKS PACT WITH LIBAGON LGU TO RAMP UP VAWC CAMPAIGN

/ 17 March 2023

THE SOUTHERN Leyte State University and the Local Government Unit of Libagon inked a pact to ramp up its campaign against Violence Against Women and Children as part of the celebration of Women’s Month.

SLSU University President Dr. Jude Duarte signed the Memorandum of Agreement with Libagon Education Committee Chairman Tomas Endico.

Other officials and representatives from both parties were also present during the signing.

Under the partnership, SLSU, through its Tomas Oppus Campus, will support the LGU by giving assistance on information drives.

Seminars tackling Republic Act 9262 or the anti-VAWC will also be conducted in the municipality along with the distribution of educational learning materials.

“Libagon is one of the municipalities of Southern Leyte that have several incidences of VAWC. Five cases have already been reported for the last three years,” SLSU said in its website.

“The municipality, however, started its massive VAWC campaign, through the Municipal Social Workers, that slowly mitigates this pressing issue,” it added.
