SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY SCHOLARS GET INTERNET ALLOWANCE

/ 14 December 2020

THE SILLIMAN University has launched an initiative project that aims to support scholars by providing them with mobile data and internet allowance as a way to address the lack of internet connectivity amid distance learning.

The university’s Scholarships and Aid Division of the Office of Student Services dubbed the internet assistance as ‘Dreamkeeper Project’, with a mission to ‘get scholars closer to their dreams’.

“The project recognizes that distance learning poses additional financial challenges to students, specifically those who would not be able to study in SU without a scholarship and those whose households have been affected by the loss of livelihood due to the Covid19 pandemic,” the university said.

Under the project, scholars will receive financial support for their internet connectivity every month in the form of mobile internet load or internet allowance.

Dean of students Dr. Edna Gladys Calingacion credited the donors whose support made it possible for the project to provide internet connectivity to 32 scholars as of November this year.

For those wishing to donate and for more information about the project, the Scholarships and Aid Division can be contacted through email address [email protected].
