/ 2 September 2025

THE SILLIMAN  University Technical Educational Vocational and Entrepreneurial Center (SU TEVEC) has produced 25 graduates of the Organic Agriculture Production NC II program.

Recognized under the Agriculture and Fishery Sector by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the course trains individuals in organic farming, including crop production, poultry raising, and the development of organic supplements.

Dr. Jose Edwin C. Cubelo, officer-in-charge of the SU Office of the President and dean of the College of Agriculture, delivered the welcome remarks on behalf of SU President Dr. Betty Cernol McCann.

Cubelo highlighted SU TEVEC’s commitment to “quality technical and vocational education,” citing its partnership with TESDA, which began in 2013 when the center was still known as the School of Agro-Industrial and Technical Education.

“Our goal is clear: to equip learners with skills, knowledge, and values for employability, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning, all in response to the needs of our community and the nation,” he said.

He also encouraged graduates to be proactive and innovative, urging them to “create opportunities for yourself, your families, and for others.”

TESD Specialist I Dr. Pepito F. Piral, speaking on behalf of TESDA Negros Oriental Provincial Director Joel M. Villagracia, described the course completion as “a commitment to protect our soil, our health, and our environment.”

He added that the graduates are now in a position to lead sustainable farming initiatives, stressing the importance of clean agriculture and the role of organic farmers in building resilient communities.
