SILLIMAN U STUDENTS JOIN EDUCATIONAL TRIP IN TAIWAN
PUBLIC administration students and an alumnus of the Silliman University joined an educational trip to Kaohsiung, Taiwan as part of the delegation of the Junior Philippine Society for Public Administration.
Kirk Patrick Pinili, Khryss Calimbo and Dexter Lloyd Sularte represented the Central Visayas Chapter of JPSPA.
The other delegates were from the Isabela State University, Mindanao State University, and UP Diliman.
Sularte said that the educational trip aimed to immerse public administration students in governance, deepen their understanding of public administration and bilateral collaboration, foster leadership skills and inspire social responsibility.
“We visited various sectors throughout our eight days in Kaohsiung City and exchanged conversations with senior government officials, public and civil servants, and young entrepreneurs,” he said.
The participants learned about the city’s citizen complaints management system, urban development bureau, smart city development, public social housing and voluntary service management.
They also interacted with local startup entrepreneurs to discuss solutions to societal issues.
Moreover, they shared ideas on urban planning, AI governance, digitalization, social entrepreneurship, and citizens’ economic independence.
The participants also talked about enhancing the relationship between Taiwan and the Philippines.
JPSPA and Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Association jointly organized the trip on the invitation of Dr. Eing Ming Wu, the executive director of Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Association.
