/ 31 October 2024

A PSYCHOLOGY student of the Silliman University was among the top three most outstanding international students in the Philippines during the Proclamation Rites and Awarding Ceremonies of the 51st Annual Search for the Most Outstanding International Students in the Philippines

Anatasia Y. Kambai was also named 2024 International Friendship Awardee.

The awards highlighted Kambai’s academic achievements and leadership within the international student community at SU.

“Known for her academic excellence and leadership qualities, Kambai is a consistent honor student and currently serves as the president of the Overseas Students Fellowship of Silliman Church. Her commitment to both her studies and community involvement made her a standout candidate in this annual search organized by the Philippine International Friendship and Understanding Association,” the school said.

The selection process for the award involved a rigorous three-segment competition.

Contestants took written exams covering Philippine historical facts and current events, demonstrated their talents, and engaged in public speaking. Finalists were evaluated based on their academic performance, community service, and leadership skills, showcasing the holistic qualities the award seeks to honor.

Joining Kambai among the top three were Kikou M. Ikusawa, a fellow psychology student from Japan currently studying at Saint Louis University in Baguio City, and Deborah Anirejouritse Eda, a nursing student from Nigeria studying at Lyceum University in Batangas.

The screening for this year’s award took place on September 10 at the University of Santo Tomas.
