SILLIMAN U STUDENT ADVANCES TO FINALS OF INT’L YOUTH MATH CHALLENGE 2024
A STUDENT from Silliman University has advanced to the final round of the prestigious International Youth Math Challenge (IYMC) 2024.
Zayed ABukoya Mohamed, a first-year BS Physics major, successfully passed the Qualification Round in December 2024 and the Pre-Final Round in January 2025.
Mohamed is now competing at the highest level of the competition and has secured a spot as a Finalist in the global event set for this weekend.
The IYMC is an annual international competition that brings together young mathematicians from around the world to test their problem-solving skills and expand their mathematical knowledge. The contest is divided into three categories: Junior (10th grade and below, under 16 years old), Youth (11th to 13th grade, under 19 years old), and Senior (college level and above, 19 years or older).
Throughout the competition, Mohamed has been coached by Dr. Rhea Rheem Muarip-Bolodo, chair of the College of Arts and Sciences – Mathematics Department.
