A GROUP of students and alumni and a faculty member from Silliman University recently joined the Asia Youth International Model United Nations Conference held in Malaysia.

The students are Beatriz Ellen Gatanela, Heini Borromeo, Princess Jane Capila, Athena Therese Dumaog, while the alumni are Jay Louie Jarbonido and Seth Bariga.

Meanwhile, SU Senior High School faculty member Jan Cynth Palama represented the university in the conference.

The group shared ideas and contributed to meaningful discussions on global issues, the school said.

The conference was organized by the International Global Network as a “platform where youth mentality in leadership, negotiation, and diplomacy will be developed in a Model United Nations.”

Delegates of a model United Nations, such as the AYIMUN, sit together in an assembly called a meeting session, where each of them plays the role of a diplomat representing a country and solve a problem with other delegates.
