SILLIMAN U GRAD STUDENT WINS ESSAY WRITING TILT IN AMERICA
A GRADUATE student from the Silliman University won the Cultural Diversity and Inclusiveness Essay Writing Competition of Scranton Women’s Leadership Center.
Noraine Patch G. Puengan, an MA in English major in Literary Studies, was recognized for her essay titled “The Female Gaze: The Power of Centering the ‘Other’ through Championing Diversity and Inclusivity.”
The competition was hosted by the American Methodist Korean Women’s Mission Foundation.
Puengan’s essay was published on the Scranton Women’s Leadership Center’s website last April 13, 2023.
Last year, Puengan also won the “Save Earth Save Us: For All Life on Earth” Essay Writing Competition of the American Methodist Korean Women’s Mission Foundation.
Puengan completed her BA in Creative Writing degree from SU in 2022. She was a special fellow for Drama in the 2022 SU National Writers Workshop.
