TWO alumni of Silliman University were among the recipients of this year’s Outstanding Social Worker of the Philippines award.

The honorees are Atty. Mary Inglay Capuyan-Fokno and Hon. Joan Mita Atega-Monding.

The Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. is awarding individuals for outstanding achievements in their chosen fields, notable contributions to communities, schools, local governments, and businesses, and memorable acts of kindness that left a lasting impact on people.

Capuyan-Fokno and Atega-Monding received the awards during PASWI’s 75th Platinum Jubilee Awards & Recognition ceremony.

The school said Capuyan-Fokno and Atega-Monding completed their BS in Social Work degree from SU in 1976 and 1974, respectively.

Previously, SU Prof. Emervencia Ligutom and alumna Portia Sylvia Awayan received the same award in 2022 and 2021, respectively.
