AN ALUMNA of the Silliman University was among the top 50 Women Leaders in Technology for 2023.

Penelope Merced, a graduate of BS in Information Technology, was recognized for demonstrating remarkable innovation, resilience, and determination in a field traditionally dominated by men.

The list was made by Women We Admire, a membership organization of women executives and leaders across the U.S. and Canada.

It published the list on their website last August 28.

Merced was acknowledged for pioneering groundbreaking technologies, spearheading transformative initiatives, and fostering inclusive work environments.

“Penelope Merced is distinguished by her ability to influence, lead, think strategically, establish business partnerships, and execute. She successfully leads organizations through the ever-evolving digital landscape by aligning technology initiatives with strategic objectives and providing a cohesive long-term vision,” WWA said in its website.

“With over two decades of technical leadership experience, Penelope is a strategic digital designer who can keep a dozen balls in the air and knows how all those balls fit in the long-term digital vision. Her unique blend of analytical skills, technical knowledge, and business acumen allows her to integrate technology, business processes, and people to drive business agility and innovation,” it added.

Merced currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at MidCap Financial, a driving digital transformation initiatives that generate tangible value for MidCap and pioneering innovative technology strategies.
