SILLIMAN ALUMNA TO LEAD 125TH PH INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE IN USA AND ITALY

AN ALUMNA of the Silliman University will make history by serving as the 125th Philippine Independence Day Parade Grand Marshal in New York City and Milan, Italy in June 2023.

Dr. Dely Po Go, Outstanding Sillimanian Awardee, holds a position on the Board of Trustees for the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey and is highly regarded by her community.

As a Grand Marshal, Go will lead the Philippine-American Friendship Day Parade in Jersey City in New Jersey.

“A well-respected humanitarian, philanthropist, community leader and nurse, Go is the recipient of the Gerry Roxas Leadership Award,” SU said.

“She is also a Woman of Peace Awardee for helping disadvantaged children around the world; Sinag Lahi Awardee; trustee at multiple boards; educator; entrepreneur; and president-elect of the Hiraya Foundation for Filipino-American Heritage Preservation, Inc,” it added.

Go will also work with New York Consul General Elmer Cato in sponsoring projects in culture, technology, environment and education that “will impact the lives of Filipino Migrant workers within the jurisdiction of the Philippine Consulate in Milan.”

The Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City takes place annually to create awareness of Philippine culture and to raise funds for charity projects in the Philippines and the United States.
