SCHOOLS HELP TYPHOON-STRICKEN COMMUNITIES
THE BULACAN State University has distributed packs of rice to communities affected by Typhoon Ulysses, prioritizing students, faculty and its staff.
Dr. Cecilia S. Navasero-Gascon, BulSU president, led the initiative.
BulSu said it acquired 30 sacks of rice from the Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija.
The university’s National Service Training Program Department led the repacking of the goods.
“The repacked rice is to be distributed to the typhoon-stricken areas of Bulacan, prioritizing BulSUan Students, Faculty, and staff,” BulSu said on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the Batangas State University partnered with the Ayala Young Leaders Alliance to bring aid to one of the communities severely affected by the typhoons.
The relief operation for Barangay Talahib Pandayan in Batangas City was conducted through the extension project Lingap Kabayan.
The barangay was one of the university’s adopted communities.
“A call for donations was made on November 2, and the office received almost P60,000 worth of cash and in-kind donations from several private groups and individuals, including Sunlife Seoul Tower Sales Team, which also helped in repacking the goods,” the school said.
The cash donations were used to purchase hygiene kits and sacks of rice.
The relief operation benefited 358 families.
