SAMAR STATE U JOINS LIST OF TOP 100 HEIs

THE SAMAR State University entered the top 100 higher educational institutions in the country in the 18th edition of the Webometrics Ranking which promotes scientific research to improve the progress of the scientific and technological level of a country.

The result was published by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, the largest public research body in Spain, in January 2021.

SSU said that the ranking serves as an indicator to measure the scientific activity of universities on the web.

SSU also placed 15,627 among the more than 31,000 universities being monitored by the Cybermetrics Lab in 200 countries.

“Objectives of the Webometrics Ranking of World’s Universities include promotion of web publication and in support to open/electronic access initiatives to scientific publications and other academic materials which the University also places high regard on,” SSU said on its website.

The University of the Philippines, De La Salle University-Manila and Ateneo de Manila University, bagged the top three spots of the ranking in the country respectively.
