THE ROMBLON State University inked a memorandum of understanding with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Bureau of Fire Protection for a program on fire safety.
RSU on Monday said that its students and employees in its main campus and branches will undergo training on fire prevention.
“As a university, it is important to be aware of disaster mitigation and prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and rehabilitation through series of lectures, seminars, and drills to be done regularly so that all faculty, staff, and students are assured of their safety,” said Edgar V. Andalecio, OIC director of RSU-DRRMO as posted on the university’s website.
The program will be headed by the RSU Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office under its University’s Fire Safety and Awareness Program.
The move is in response to the “Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 to institutionalize disaster management.
Under the agreement, the DILG and BFP will conduct fire education programs and drills, and provide medical aid to victims of fire.
