THE QUEZON City council’s oversight committee held a hearing last week to discuss an incident involving a private educational institution in the city.

It can be recalled that Bestlink College of the Philippines came under scrutiny after social media posts went viral, showing students from Bataan walking home to Manila because there was no bus provided back home.

The hearing, led by Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, Majority Floor Leader Coun. Dorothy Delarmente, and Coun. Aly Medalla, heard from the legal counsel, schoolteachers, as well as some students and parents. Representatives from the Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education, Hermosa Municipal Police Station, and various City Government department heads also attended the hearing.

The purpose of the committee hearing was to investigate the incident and establish appropriate measures and policies, according to the QC local government.
