PUP TO SHIFT TO ONLINE CLASSES
THE Polytechnic University of the Philippines will shift to online classes amid extreme heat weather and impending nationwide transport strike.
In an advisory over the weekend, PUP vice president for academic affairs Dr. Emanuel De Guzman said that the school will transition to synchronous and asynchronous classes starting on Monday, April 15.
“Please be informed that all scheduled in-person classes in all PUP campuses, from April 15-30, 2024, will shift to online mode of delivery in consideration of the high heat index being experienced in the whole country and due to the reported series of transport strikes,” De Guzman said.
“Laboratory classes and other scheduled activities may proceed in consultation with students,” he added.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration earlier warned the heat index being felt across the country is expected to increase further and reach a dangerous level in May.
The Department of Education earlier announced that more than 7,000 schools in different parts of the country have suspended in-person classes and shifted to alternative delivery modes due to the threat of extreme hot weather.
