PUP STUDENTS HOLD OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR PWDs
STUDENTS of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines recently conducted an outreach program to help persons with disabilities.
Dubbed “Lingap at Kalinga mula kay Sinta,” the three-day initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Jerielyn Reyes, Aljon Pada, and Rayan Soriano, along with Open University Marketing program students.
The outreach program aimed to support individuals facing various disabilities including blindness, deafness, cerebral palsy, and limb amputations.
Among the activities were games, ramp walking and can-assisted stair climbing.
“The students also engaged with the children through singing, dancing, hand painting, and crafting thank-you cards. Their generosity extended to valuable donations for the cause,” the school said.
Veronica Delima, lead coordinator of the Handicapped Center Lourdes, stressed the significance of sensitivity training, covering sign language, braille, and disability simulations.
She encouraged the volunteers to reflect on their experiences and emphasized the importance of daily gratitude and appreciation for blessings.
