PUP STUDENTS ASKED TO PAY TUITION
STUDENTS of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines were given the option to provide financial help to the university.
Students received emails informing them that the university will welcome financial assistance through OPT-OUT or voluntary contribution.
The OPT-OUT option states that students can voluntarily waive their free tuition under the Free Education law and pay the university their actual bill.
The second option is for voluntary contribution of any amount to the university as a form of assistance.
In the letter, PUP stressed that the giving of assistance is not mandatory..
The move drew mixed reactions from students, with some expressing fear that the university might be running out of funds.
