/ 8 November 2023

EIGHT students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – College of Communication (PUP-COC) were shortlisted in the student and campus-based filmmaker category of the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival.

The student-directors who successfully secured a spot were Ma. Rafaela Abucejo, Andrea Ponce, Alexa Moneii Agaloos, Mark Terence Molave, Terrence Gale Fernandez, Tyrone Lean Taotao, Ronjay C-Mendiola, and Patricia Dalluay.

Puregold received 135 short-film submissions nationwide but only selected 40 for the student filmmaker category.

The whole college expressed their support for the nominees.

“Laban COCians! Your COC family takes pride in your achievement,” PUP-COC said in a Facebook post.

With the theme “Mga Kuwentong Panalo ng Buhay,” the film festival aims to showcase short-films and movies that will highlight family-oriented, inspiring and wholesome concepts.

Five professional or amateur filmmakers will receive a P2.5-million production grant for full-length film and 25 campus-based or student directors will receive a P100,000 production grant for short-film.
