PUP STUDENT BODY APPEALS FOR ACADEMIC EASE
THE POLYTECHNIC University of the Philippines Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral sent a petition to school administration calling for the implementation of academic ease.
SKM made the appeal on Friday to help its constituents cope with the implementation of distance learning.
The call includes easing academic requirements, scheduled academic breaks, student aid, no-fail policy, and safe resumption of physical classes.
“We believe that the PUP administration is capable of championing the call of the whole community along with the Iskolar ng Bayan towards a more humane condition amidst a worsening social crisis. The burden of the health and economic condition in the country is one that we must struggle upon collectively,” the petition reads.
“We should not take a passive role in the protection of students’ right to education. And ensuring that everyone in the community is capacitated to function without compromising their health and overall (well-being) is one of the primary steps towards the same,” it added.
The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs issued a memorandum for the easing of requirements for the second semester of the previous academic year.
The directive included only the final examination is given as a major assessment.
The student leaders said a broader memorandum like the previous semester accompanied with the aforementioned calls should be implemented.
