PUP COUNCILS REQUEST FOR CLASS SUSPENSION FOR ELECTIONS
THE POLYTECHNIC University of the Philippines’ Alyansa ng mga Nagkakaisang Konseho Student Councils Federation called on the school’s administration to suspend classes to give way to election-related activities.
In a letter addressed to PUP President Manuel Muhi, the federation requested suspension of classes from May 7 to 9, 2022.
They said that the time frame is imperative for Filipinos to know who to vote for and decide who will lead the country in the coming years.
“During the election period, it is not far that signals disruptions and absences will frequently occur during classes because it is without a doubt that students and faculty of the university will be using their time to analyze their candidates and vote,” the letter read.
“Currently, however, the Commission on Higher Education and Malacañang have not declared any suspension of classes or work,” it added.
The group also sought the postponement of academic deadlines.
