PUP AMONG TOP SCHOOLS IN ASIA
FOR the first time, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines secured a spot in the 2024 Quacquarelli Symonds Rankings in Asia.
PUP ranked 7th in the Philippines and 551-600 in Asia.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga tumulong at nagpursige para maabot natin ang karangalan na ito na makapasok sa QS World University Rankings in Asia for 2024,” PUP president Dr. Manuel Muhi said.
“Bihira po ang makapasok dito sa prestigious (QS) World University Rankings. Asahan po ninyo na we will continue to work hard and adhere to international quality education standards para sa mga estudyante at sa bayan,” he added.
University of San Carlos in Cebu (551-600), Far Eastern University Manila (701-750), and Mindanao State University (801+) were also included in the list of top universities in Asia for the first time.
Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines remained the highest-ranked Filipino institution at 78th place, an improvement from its previous 87th ranking in 2023.
Rounding out the top 4 are Ateneo de Manila University at 134, De La Salle University at 171, and the University of Santo Tomas at 179.
Other Philippine schools that made it to the list are Adamson University (551-600), Mapua University (601-650), Siliman University (601-650), Ateneo De Davao University (651-700), Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (701-750), Saint Louis University (751-800), Xavier University (801+), and Lyceum of the Philippines University (801+).
To assess the schools, QS used 11 indicators — academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, international research network, citations per paper, papers per faculty, staff with PhD, international faculty, international students, inbound exchange students, and outbound exchange students.
