PNU PRESIDENT WARNS PUBLIC AGAINST POSERS

/ 24 January 2021

THE PHILIPPINE Normal University warned the public against scammers pretending to be officials from the school’s Office of the University President to extort money.

The university apparently received reports about individuals posing themselves as members of the OUP and were asking for donations on behalf of PNU President Dr. Bert Tuga.

“The Office of the University President of the Philippine Normal University has received reports that there are individuals or groups presenting themselves to be staff of the OUP, extorting and soliciting donations and other monetary compensation on behalf of the University President,” it said.

“This is to inform the public that PNU does not authorize any individual or organization to solicit money and other forms of donations on behalf of any official,” it added.

PNU said it does not condone solicitations involving government officials as it is prohibited by law.

It also asked the public to report such incidents to the university at [email protected] which the school will coordinate to authorities.
