PLM SCRAPS MANDATORY USE OF FACE MASKS

/ 27 July 2023

THE PAMANTASAN ng Lungsod ng Maynila has scrapped its policy on the submission of health declaration forms before entering its premises and the mandatory use of face masks after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. lifted the state of public health emergency due to Covid19.

PLM President Emmanuel Leyco on Monday issued Administrative Order 19-GPP, s. 2023, which lifted strict health protocols.

“We welcome this development after more than three years of physical and economic disruptions brought about by the pandemic. Hopefully, this fuels the uninterrupted recovery of the education sector,” Leyco said in a statement.

“We enjoin members of the PLM community to maintain proper hygiene and to seek medical assistance whenever they feel sick to protect not just themselves but the people around them,” he added.

Through the administrative order, academic departments are no longer required to submit weekly reports to the PLM Covid19 Task Force.

However, they were asked to monitor if there are emerging infections within the student body, faculty, and staff.

Students, faculty, and school personnel were also urged to continue observing health etiquettes to prevent the spread of diseases.
