PLM PRESIDENT SUPPORTS BAYANIHAN 3

/ 28 May 2021

THE PAMANTASAN ng Lungsod ng Maynila lauded the passage by the House of Representatives of the Bayanihan 3 bill that seeks to boost economic recovery and provide financial assistance for pandemic-hit families.

PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said the approval of the Bayanihan 3 bill is “a good step” for the country.

“Considering how the economy has been tanking and we have seen how consumption has been diving, I think this is a good step in the right direction,” he said.

Just like the previous Bayanihan laws, Bayanihan 3 aims to help Filipinos. The measure has a provision that gives P2,000 financial aid to all Filipinos regardless of their financial standing.

Leyco, a public finance professor, said that a cash aid between P5,000 and P10,000 would be “more realistic” in helping Filipinos out of their financial struggles.

“I look at the ayuda as a stepping stone for the full recovery of the economy,” he said.

At the same time, Leyco called on the government to speed up the vaccination of Filipinos.

“We have to bring in vaccines and roll them out immediately, make it a 24/7 activity throughout NCR and also in major urban centers,” he said.
