PLM BELIES SUPPORT FOR ACADEMIC FREEZE
THE ADMINISTRATION of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila has denied reports that it is in favor of implementing ‘academic freeze,’ saying it was never an option.
PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said that he was misquoted by the school’s student paper in his position regarding the issue.
“I am quite disappointed that some quarters would like to present my statement as supporting their call for academic freeze. PLM faculty and staff have been working feverishly to prepare the university’s digital platform and modular materials and find it unfair for these quarters, particularly Ang Pamantasan to inaccurately portray my position,“ Leyco posted on PLM’s official Facebook page.
The PLM has disclosed that all college councils in the school voted against the move for an academic freeze, and only a small group of students pushed for it.
The school said that it will consider applications for leave of absence for students who cannot continue their studies and will provide modular materials to those who have internet connectivity problems.
Classes in PLM will resume on October 5, 2020.
