STUDENTS of the Philippine Science High School bagged several awards in the 2021 World Invention Competition and Exhibition.

WICE is an international competition for researchers to express their idea and innovations in six categories — IT and Robotics, Innovative Social Sciences, Life Science, Environmental, Physics, and Engineering.
Juan Carlos Austria and Czedrick Rodriguez bagged the gold award for their research titled “Development of an Arduino-Based Laser Cyclocomputer.” They were coached by Roy Canseco.
Mentored by Julius Saluria, the group composed of Godfrey Dewayne Velasco, Angela Louise Torres and Jon Owen Senoja won the gold award for their study on “Lead Discovery and Optimization of Potential Muscarinc Aetylcholine M1 Antagonists.”
For their research on “Development of an Android Application for Triage Prediction in Hospital Emergency Departments,” Uriel Nathan, Clyde Ambroz Acyatan and Lucas Sebastian Khan also bagged a gold award.
The three students were guided by Adrian Angeles.
Meanwhile, Victoria Albitos, Natalia Araña and Martin Rey Belino obtained the silver award for the “Development of an Interactive web-based learning Application for Mendelian Inheritance in Human Using-Java.”
Dawn Crisologo and Danah Purificacion served as their research advisers.
The team composed of Raven Glorianne Foronda, Iñaki Rafael Herrera and Jose Mariano Suba submitted a research called “Design of Novel Nonpeptidic Smac Mimetic as an Inhibitor of XIAP-BIR3.”
They garnered a silver award. The students were coached by Julius Saluria.
This year’s competition — organized by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association in collaboration with SEGi College Subang, Malaysia — was participated by 369 teams from 29 countries.
The participating countries include Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Belarus, Republic of Korea, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, Mexico, Thailand, USA, Vietnam, Serbia, Macedonia, Hong Kong, China, Egypt, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Sudan.
