PHILIPPINE NORMAL UNIVERSITY DRAWS FLAK OVER AUG. 27 CLASS OPENING
THE PHILIPPINE Normal University has drawn flak for its decision to push through with its August 27 opening of classes despite concerns that the students aren’t ready yet.
The school said it will push through with the scheduled opening of classes “with no delay nor postponement.”
The University Student Council said there will be simulation of classes during the first two weeks to assess concerns on the flexible learning scheme.
Using the hashtag #LigtasNaBalikEskwelaPNU and #PinaasaAllOverAgain, PNU students on Twitter expressed dismay over the recent announcement, saying it was the second time the school had failed to meet their demands.
The students said the first was when PNU did not implement a ‘mass promotion’ when classes were suspended due to the lockdowns.
“Yung PNU admin, parang DepEd: Ipipilit kung ano’ng gusto, without considering the most important things,” “Are u just making fun of us?” and “No words left because we feel that we are left behind,” were just among the students’ sentiments.
The PNU administration earlier said it is studying the possibility of delaying the opening of classes and will decide based on results of a survey on the readiness of its community.
The PNU administration added it will ramp up printing of modules and furnishing of tool kits which will be used for the flexible learning scheme.
