ORIENTAL MINDORO SCHOOL TOPS MALACAÑANG’S PAROL-MAKING CONTEST
PEDRO V. Panaligan Memorial National High School in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro emerged as the first-prize winner in the National Parol-Making Competition, “Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin,” organized by Malacañang.
Panabo City National High School from Davao Region secured second place, while Roxas City School for Philippine Craftsmen in Western Visayas took third prize.
The awarding ceremony took place last Sunday (01 Dec 2024) during the annual Christmas tree lighting event at the Kalayaan Grounds in Malacanang.
With the theme “Harmonies of Hope: Illuminating Filipino Resilience,” this year’s competition marked its third edition, featuring 148 intricately designed Christmas lanterns crafted by public secondary schools nationwide.
The event was a collaborative effort between the Office of the President, the Office of the Social Secretary, and the Department of Education.
“This competition brought DepEd’s communities together— students, teachers, and parents pitched in to showcase their creativity and talents,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara.
“Our learners are truly creative thinkers, able to adapt to a rapidly changing world with ingenuity and resourcefulness,” Angara added.
