NWSSU TO PARTAKE IN PROJECT FOR SMART CITY IN SAMAR

/ 2 February 2024

THE Northwest Samar State University is on the table in helping create a SMART City in the province.

According to NwSSU, the university is one of the government agencies tasked with turning Calbayog City into a SMART City.

“The SMART City project aims to transform the target city of Calbayog into a SMART City where initiatives and approaches are taken effectively to leverage digitalization, boost citizen well-being, and deliver more efficient, sustainable, and inclusive urban services and environments as part of a collaborative, multi-stakeholder process,” the university said.

“The project desires seven outcomes which are quality of life, government efficiency, sustainability, health and wellness, economic development, public safety, and mobility,” it added.

NwSSU will team up with the Local Government Unit of Calbayog and the Department of Science and Technology Smart City Council for the project.

A meeting was conducted between the three parties on Tuesday (30 Jan 2024), at the NwSSU University Hotel and Restaurant.
