NUSG SEEKS ACADEMIC BREAK

/ 12 May 2022

STUDENTS of the National University appealed for an academic break to relieve their “post-election” stress.

The group sought a four-day class suspension until May 13.

The school’s Student Government asked for the health break, saying that the anxiety and distress brought by the elections made students not fully capable to function productively.

It urged the school officials to give priority to the well-being of constituents and help them recover from the “exhausting events” of the elections.

The students also asked for the rescheduling of the midterm examinations to give them

time to submit their academic requirements.

“We stand firm with the belief that an academic institution should always impart education in calm and safe conditions, where students and [educators] should learn and teach in peace. Clearly, with the continuous chaos that is happening in the country, learning in peace is not achievable,” NUSG wrote on Facebook page.

“Thus, we believe that our education is greatly compromised, and the administration must consider… this appeal and reflect the NU core value of empathy,” it added.
