NUEVA VIZCAYA STATE U SECURES P10.3-M GRANT FOR CITRUS RESEARCH

/ 2 September 2021

THE NUEVA Vizcaya State University bagged a P10.3-million project grant from the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development for a citrus research and development project.

A memorandum of agreement was signed by the two agencies last week at the NVSU Research, Extension, and Training Conference Hall.

The project, “Enhancing Biopesticide Efficacy by Myco-synthesis of Bio-Nanoparticles Mediated by Entomopathogenic Fungi against Citrus Rind Borer in Calamansi,” will be implemented from August 2021 to July 2024.

“This [project] will develop bio-nanoparticles through myco-synthesis mediated by EPF. The production of EPF is cost-effective and more sustainable than the use of synthetic chemicals,” NVSU said.

“Thus, this project will offer economic benefits for citrus growers while guaranteeing safety for the environment. Furthermore, the implementation of this project will ensure facility upgrading to support academic and R&D activities of the University,” it added.
