NU ASKED TO DISTRIBUTE FREE WIFI KITS PROPERLY

/ 16 August 2020

THE NATIONAL University Student Government has called the attention of the Student Affairs Office over the confusion created by the distribution of the Wireless Fidelity Kits on August 14.

This as NU announced its partnership with Globe Business for free internet connectivity during online classes.

Last July 30, SAO released the guidelines for claiming the Home Prepaid WiFi Kits.

“Due to the delivery riders not practicing social distancing and consequently distributing the neighborhood community, we can no longer accommodate deliveries. Kindly cancel all your arranged courier and wait for further announcement,” SAO, however, said in an advisory posted on its Facebook page.

NUSG stressed that SAO should have adopted a better system that prioritized the safety and health of the students, adding that it must stop blaming the courier services for the mishandled distribution.

“They did not only add to the financial struggles of the students, but ultimately, it placed the students and riders under the dangers of the novel coronavirus (Covid19),” NUSG said.

Aside from the call to review the handling of the WiFi Kits, the student body urged the NU to implement #LigtasBalikEswela as the country continues to battle the Covid19 pandemic.

“With this, a review of the system of distribution must be had, primarily considering the safety and health of the students. We echo the students call for a ligtas na balik-eskwela, as we go through the challenges of a global pandemic,” the student body added.
