NEW CAMPUS FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLE SET AT USEP
THE UNIVERSITY of Southeastern Philippines launched an extension campus to offer more learning opportunities for Indigenous People.
The school said its Malabog Extension Campus aims to focus on giving education in conflict-sensitive, and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The new campus is set to offer Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship courses as initial programs at the start of Academic Year 2022 to 2023.
The school is temporarily located at the Paquibato National High School in Brgy. Paquibato Proper, Paquibato District, Davao City.
“The establishment of the (campus) is a way for the university to express its commitment to contribute to the peacebuilding programs of the government, especially in Region Xl,” said USeP president Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao.
“This will serve the noble purpose of allowing the youth to develop themselves and become self-reliant and responsible citizens, hence, contributing to conflict transformation,” she added.
The university partnered with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Brgy. Malabog, the Ata Indigenous Cultural Communities of Paquibato District, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education, and the City Government of Davao for the funding and construction of the new buildings.
Officials of the institutions also attended the event including outgoing Davao City Mayor and Vice President-elect Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio.
