TO CELEBRATE Buwan ng Wika, the Negros Oriental State University’s Language Department will hold various competitions to enable students to show their talents.

Students may join in the storytelling, spoken poetry, TikTok transformation and singing contests.

Cash prizes await the winners who will be announced on August 27.

The event is themed “Filipino at mga Wikang Katutubo sa Dekolonisasyon ng Pag-iisip ng mga Pilipino.”

John Truz, an instructor in the Laguage department, said that the competitions also aim to boost the students’ confidence and make them aware of the importance of the Filipino language and other dialects.

“Ito ay makatutulong sa mga estudyanteng maitaas ang kamalayan sa kahalagahan ng wikang pambasa at mga katutubong wika sa ating mapagbagong lipunan at mapaghamong panahon, lalong lalo ng sa panahon ng pandemya at teknolohiya,” he said.
