THE National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan bestowed on Professor Alvin Culaba of the De La Salle University the 2023 Hui-Sun Lecture Award.

Culaba is the first Filipino to receive the award, which was presented by Senior Vice President and Distinguished Professor Chao-chin Chang in the Public Lecture Ceremony held earlier this month.

Started in March 2001, The Hui-Sun Lecture Award is the highest honor bestowed by NCHU.

The Lecture recognizes internationally renowned individuals with varying backgrounds such as Nobel Prize winners, heads of states, important thought leaders, leaders of national academies such as Academia Sinica, and luminaries in business and academe.

Previous awardees include former vice president of Taiwan ROC, Academician Professor Chen Chien-Jen; former vice president of Academia Sinica, Academician Dr. Fu-Tong Liu; and former president of the National Taiwan Ocean University, National Chair Professor Ching-Fong Chang.
