MSU-IIT STUDENTS WIN IN ACCOUNTING RESEARCH FESTIVAL
ACCOUNTANCY students from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology were the first runner-up in the 2nd Accounting Students Research Festival.
Joey Elorde and Cyrelle Serino presented their thesis in the research poster-making competition.
They bested 21 other entries to proceed in the final round where a panel of judges questioned their rationale.
“Elorde and Serino used blue and gray colors to create a professional-looking poster and orange fonts to highlight specific parts of their research,” the university said.
“Rather than relying on excessive graphics, they opted for traditional graphs and tables and placed the results in the middle of the poster to emphasize their importance.
During the question-and-answer session, the pair emphasized the relationship between their poster and their research objectives and results,” it added.
The Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila entry secured first place, while Bulacan State University ranked third.
The ASRF is an annual activity organized by the Committee on Research and Development of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants and PICPA Foundation.
The festival includes various activities designed to encourage accountancy students to conduct research including research lecture competition, research quiz bowl and research paper presentation.
