MSU-IIT STUDENTS SHINE IN IC DESIGN OLYMPICS
STUDENTS of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology triumphed at the 2024 Unlocked IC Design Olympics held recently in Cagayan de Oro.
The team, composed of Electronics Engineering majors Ricster Franuel Sibala, Paulinne Thiesha Baloro, and Kyle Dedoro, secured first place in the Custom Layout and Digital Design categories, making them the overall champion.
“This win reinforces MSU-IIT’s reputation as a leader in engineering and technological innovation,” the university said.
Unlocked 2024, a competition for engineering students nationwide, featured panel discussions, exhibitions, and innovation challenges.
In an interview, the MSU-IIT team expressed their excitement in applying classroom knowledge, with Sibala calling the win a significant milestone for their microelectronics program.
Dedoro highlighted the challenges faced during the analog design portion, while Baloro emphasized the extensive preparation and practice that went into mastering their skills.
The team credited their success to their coaches, Dr. Harreez Villaruz-Quimque and Engr. Rochelle Sabarillo-Macasero, for their guidance.
