MSU-IIT HELPS FLOOD VICTIMS IN OROQUIETA CITY

/ 26 January 2023

THE MINDANAO State University Institute of Technology and the Iligan City’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc. provided relief assistance to flood victims in Misamis Occidental.

Through the We CARE Office, affected families in Barangay Talic in Oroquieta City received help from the university.

“The said barangay was one of the areas greatly affected by the inclement weather in December last year that resulted in flooding and landslides, causing damage to crops, public infrastructure, and private property,” MSU-IIT said.

The university’s Administrative and Non-Teaching Employees Union and the College Extension Coordinators helped distribute 160 food packs containing five kilograms of rice, instant noodles, coffee, canned goods, clothes, pillows, and blankets.

“We are very thankful to the entire MSU-IIT community, including the alumni for being so responsive in our calls for assistance. MSU-IIT always cares,” Prof. Rosario Reserva, Director of the WE CARE Office, said.

Formerly the university’s Department of Extension, the WE CARE Office has carried out relief operations in disaster-affected areas in Mindanao.
