MMSU PROFESSOR HONORED FOR LIFETIME SUPPORT OF MARINE MAMMAL CONSERVATION
A MARIANO Marcos State University professor and former government veterinarian was recognized for her long-standing contributions to marine mammal protection during a national gathering of conservation advocates.
Dr. Hasmin Chogsayan of the MMSU College of Veterinary Medicine received the Extraordinaire Continuing Support Award from the Philippine Marine Mammal Stranding Network (PMMSN) for her sustained commitment and service to the organization.
The award was presented last month at the 12th National PMMSN Symposium in Quezon City, held in celebration of the network’s 20th anniversary.
PMMSN highlighted Chogsayan’s pivotal role in advancing marine mammal conservation in the Philippines and her ongoing collaboration in programs promoting ocean health and species protection.
The organization also recognized Team Ilocos Norte as Outstanding Responders for their exemplary performance during marine mammal stranding operations across the province.
Hosted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in partnership with PMMSN, the symposium gathered responders, researchers, volunteers, and partner agencies to reflect on two decades of service and to strengthen future conservation efforts.
