/ 1 February 2025

MARIANO Marcos State University has partnered with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte to expand the reach of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program in the province.

A memorandum of agreement was signed between MMSU OIC-President Prima Fe R. Franco and Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, represented by Provincial Board Member Medeldorf Gaoat.

Under the agreement, the provincial government will promote ETEEAP among government employees and local residents, facilitate the assessment of potential students’ credentials, and endorse qualified applicants for admission.

MMSU will offer courses in hybrid or fully online formats, granting degrees to individuals who meet the program’s qualifications based on their professional experience and competencies.

Gaoat emphasized that the initiative offers opportunities for individuals with extensive professional backgrounds to earn undergraduate degrees, making higher education more inclusive and accessible.

Franco expressed gratitude to the provincial government, stating that the partnership aims to enhance the academic qualifications of deserving students and contribute to the development of human capital in Ilocos Norte and beyond.

Established under Executive Order No. 330 in 1996, ETEEAP recognizes learning beyond traditional classrooms by assessing students’ knowledge, skills, and competencies, allowing them to earn undergraduate degrees through an outcomes-based approach.
