MMSU LAB HIGH SCHOOL WINS 1ST RUNNER-UP IN EDUTECH ASIA 2024
A TEAM from the Laboratory High School of Mariano Marcos State University in Laoag claimed the first runner-up honors in the EDUtech Asia 2024 Planet Protectors Sustainability Challenge.
Team members Adrian Jed V. Cacao, Rvee Anne Vanessa G. Cid, Ynnah Therese S. Salenda, Ava Laureen Graciela M. Quillope, and Zhanaerelle Jae M. Agcaoili impressed the judges with their project, the “GBean App.”
The app is an all-in-one platform aimed at tackling waste management by engaging individuals and communities. It competed against schools from around the world.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our high school students for this significant accomplishment. Their success reflects the quality of education at our Laboratory Schools and demonstrates exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills in addressing real-world issues,” said CTE Dean Aris Reynold Cajigal.
Under the guidance of coach Ms. Jean A. Arellano, the students were supported by MMSU-LHS Principal Prof. Philistia Mercuria Bagayas and student affairs coordinator Mr. Al Cameron G. Avila.
The competition marked the inaugural year of the challenge, sponsored by Google for Education to promote student-led innovations in environmental issues. It was held November 6-7 at Singapore’s Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
