MMSU INAUGURATES AGRI-AQUA BUSINESS INCUBATOR PROJECT

/ 18 February 2023

A TECHNOLOGY that aims to assist entrepreneurs and generate jobs in Ilocos Region is now operational at the Mariano Marcos State University.

The university inaugurated its Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator by unveiling its marker earlier this week.

The facility was established through the collective efforts of MMSU and the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development.

ATBI project leader Ethel Reynda Calivoso affirmed the university’s commitment “to effectively commercialize” its various technologies in the agriculture, aquatic and natural resources sector.

The project, she said, will develop viable agribusinesses through technology incubation.

MMSU Vice President Prima Fe Franco thanked the PCAARRD for its support to the project.

Through the ATBI, Franco said the university is now more able “to assist local entrepreneurs in the region through technical and marketing assistance, capacity-building, and business development.”

DOST Ilocos Norte Director Benjamin Mercado commended MMSU for exploring ways to help the micro, small, and medium enterprises.

“Through our continuing efforts, I believe we will reach, encourage, and empower more entrepreneurs to help nurture the agri-aqua sector in the region,” Noel Catibog, PCAARRD Technology Transfer and Promotion Division Director, said.
