THE MIRIAM College recently forged a collaboration with Canadian school Camosun College to deliver educational programs for Filipino, Canadian, and international students from the Southeast Asia region.

The partnership is expected to create a defined pathway for students in the Philippines and throughout the region to access Camosun and Miriam programs including degrees in Business Administration and diplomas in areas such as Early Learning and Care, Health Care Assistant, and Mental Health and Addictions.

“We’re very excited to be bringing Camosun programs to the world, with Miriam College. The collaboration with Miriam College means students in the Philippines can start their Canadian educational study closer to home, and give Canadian and other students an exciting study option in the Philippines, while giving them the option to complete some of the studies overseas,” said Camosun College president Dr. Lane Trotter.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing to work with Miriam College on a number of projects that will create more opportunities for students,” he added.

The partnership was formally announced in a press conference earlier this month.

The delivery model is a first of its kind between post-secondary institutions in Canada and the Philippines.

Mirriam College is currently building a new coed campus in Porac, Pampanga where the new educational program will eventually be delivered.

It is expected be completed in 2023 or 2024.

“Our partnership with Camosun will allow Miriam College to augment our high-quality education with Canadian education opportunities for our students here in the Philippines.

Access to Camosun degree and diploma programs through Miriam College here in the Philippines will allow us to continue advancing knowledge at a time when the world is changing faster. Camosun and Miriam College share many values that put students first,” Mirrian College president Ambassador Laura Quiambao-Del Rosario said.

According to Camosun, the delivery of joint educational programming is part of a five-year international partnership agreement that was signed by both colleges on October last year.

The partnership will also see a student exchange program between the two colleges as well as an opportunity for faculty exchange.

Additional agreements were similarly signed for a joint post-secondary programming for students both in the Philippines and in Canada.
