MAPUA STUDENTS WIN IN ACCENTURE TECH COMPETITION

/ 21 November 2020

STUDENTS from the Mapua University topped the Program the Future Accenture Technology Campus Challenge, a competition where students get to present innovative ideas.

The winning entry is an online solution designed to benefit commuters and public utility vehicle drivers and operators.

The ‘BayaniHub’ is an all-in-one, low-cost scalable Internet of Things solution that combines smart fleet-management systems, transit display retrofitting and installation, as well as passenger convenience features.

‘BayaniHub’ was designed by MoveMapua composed of Information Technology students Gabriel Edrick Acuna, Eugenio Emmanuel Araullo, Andrea Camille Garcia, Jealine Eleanor E. Gorre, and Darwin Medel.

The team said ‘BayaniHub’ will help PUVs as investments for the project will be done by partner companies, which leads to profit sharing and a monthly income of P120,000. Advertisers can also reach their target markets through BayaniHub’s smart ad platform.

‘BayaniHub’ also provides information on the available PUVs in a particular area and the time that these vehicles will reach certain stops, enabling commuters to plan their day.

“It’s really about helping people plan ahead. Our solution will help shorten passenger lines at city stops and terminals and distribute appropriately the ridership in the country. We want our idea to be as inclusive as possible while leaving a net positive gain for all stakeholders,” Araullo said.

Program the Future is an annual competition wherein state and private university and college students are given the chance to present tech-savvy ideas to help uplift communities.

It provides incentives to help innovative ideas transform into actual solutions, as well as access to exclusive online training and mentorship by Accenture industry experts.
