MAPUA OFFERS MINOR IN STEM EDUCATION
THE MAPUA University is currently offering minor in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to its students who want to become teachers in the future.
According to the university, the program is open to undergraduate students in Information Technology, Computer Science, Physics, and Chemistry.
“This is one of the University’s initiatives to produce knowledgeable and competent educators in the field of STEM,” it said.
“Harnessing Mapúa’s traditional strengths in STEM, we aim to provide a platform for future scientists, engineers, and other technical professionals to be teaching-ready if they choose to pursue a career in education or in training and development sectors,” it added.
The STEM education minor will require 18 units, covering the following six courses:
• The Teaching Profession
• The Teacher and the School Curriculum
• The Child and Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles
• Assessment of Learning
• Contemporary Education: Theories, Trends, and Practices
• Field Study
“This minor will prepare our students to become teachers, providing them an opportunity to explore various theories and practices in STEM education and inspire the next generation of STEM professionals,” the school said.
