MAKATI SK DISTRIBUTES ONLINE CLASS STARTER KITS TO ENROLLED STUDENTS

/ 28 August 2020

SANGGUNIANG Kabataan Chairman Nicole Sobria and Sangguniang Kagawad Dhea Druan of Bgy. Tejeros, Makati spearheaded the distribution of online class starter kits for the coming school year.

This effort aims to encourage students to attain quality education and is in line with the celebra-tion of the Linggo ng Kabataan and Kilalanin ang Galing ng Kabataan, which recognizes the achievements of students in academics, sports, music, and arts.

“This school year is a great challenge for every student. From the usual face-to-face classes it shifted to online classes. A change not everyone can easily adapt to because of lack of re-sources and other reasons. Barangay Tejeros SK council aims to promote goal 4 of UN Sustain-able Development Goals which is quality education through our projects,” Sobria said.

The online starter kit, which includes a 4GB flash drive, earphones, and USB lamp, was distrib-uted to 100 learners who are enrolled this academic year.

Netizens applauded the donations of the SK council, alongside Makati Mayor Abby Binay’s pro-nouncement to distribute brand new laptops for all teachers in the city’s 2,500 public schools.

The laptops will be distributed on World’s Teacher’s Day in October.

Last June, Binay announced that over 85,000 students from preschool to senior high school en-rolled under DepEd Makati for school year 2020-2021. They will each receive a learner’s pack-age on top of the annual freebies they get under Project Free.

Binay also assured that her office will provide a free daily five-hour internet load for online clas-ses.

“No one shall be left behind, whether in teaching or in learning. We must support the teachers and students alike,” she said.
